Being successful is actually not as hard as you think. Does it take hard work? Yes, of course. But it’s not actually hard.
There are a number of things that successful people do that helps to make them successful. It’s not just about working hard, studying hard and networking – it’s important to challenge yourself.
While those are also very important, it’s more about living a fulfilled life. Check out these millionaire mindset quotes to help get you there too!
Wake Up Early
I know this isn’t something most people want to hear. And there may be some who disagree. But waking up early is one of the most common habits that successful people do.
Personally, I wake up a 3 AM five days a week, and 5 AM on the weekends. I am incredibly productive from 3:30 AM to 11 AM. You can get so much done when the rest of the world is sleeping. No email or phone distractions, just working on your best work.
Exercise
Exercise is another key habit. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind.
Not only does getting exercise help to keep your body healthy, it is known to also improve your mental well being.
When you exercise, your body releases endorphins, which is what gives you that relaxed, happy feeling after working out. It’s a natural high.
And naturally, when you physically and mentally feel great, it is easier to focus your time on important things. These At Home Workout Programs help you get started without having to commit to a gym membership.
Meditation
And that leads us to meditation. Another way to keep your brain healthy.
Meditation help to reduce stress and allows one to better focus the mind. Both key in enabling someone to be successful.
Setting Goals
This pertains to both long term goal setting, short term goal setting and daily goal setting. If you are able to set daily goals for yourself, it helps to keep you focused and motivated.
You’ll have better direction for your day, and the goals will give you a sense of purpose and accomplishment. Learn how to set SMART goals for the best results in goal setting.
Reading
Reading is key. Successful people are constantly reading and learning. Bill Gates reads about 50 books a day. That’s a book a week.
And we’re not talking fiction here. We’re talking education and self development books. Don’t worry, it’s not as boring as it sounds.
I used to read only fiction novels because I thought these books would be boring. But they’re not. Especially if you yearn to be successful.
They are enlightening, exciting, motivating. Start by checking out these Personal Development Books.
Eating Healthy
This goes along with exercise. Again, keeping your body and mind healthy will enable you to focus on the things you need to to launch your success.
Successful people tend to always eat a healthy breakfast, drink plenty of water, and eat lots of fruits and veggies. Obviously, every person has a different diet, but the key thing to note here is that successful people typically eat healthy.
Get Enough Sleep
First off, it’s important to understand how much sleep your body needs. The average person needs 7-8 hours, but every person is different.
I personally do great with 6 hours of sleep, but the boyfriend operates better on 7 hours.
Getting enough sleep is incredibly important for your health. It helps to keep you feeling rested, energized and focused on the tasks at hand.
Family Time
Many successful people set aside adequate time to spend with their family. It important to spend time with your family to build stronger bonds, improve communication and helps to give children confidence.
Do Important Work First
Many people start their day by checking Facebook, email or other social media channels before starting work.
But successful people start by doing important work first. You are most productive for the first 2-3 hours after you wake up. Don’t waste that time scrolling through social media or reading mundane emails.
Expressing Gratitude
An “attitude of gratitude” allows you to be happier by learning to live in the moment, appreciate the simple joys of life and be grateful for what you have. Being grateful and optimistic frees you from negative thoughts like self pity, greed and envy.
More people are drawn to you when you have a positive attitude and express gratitude for their work and actions. And it just feels good to make others feel good.
Journaling
Many successful people journal on a daily basis. Getting your thoughts and feeling down on paper (or computer) help you to process them. This can also go hand in hand with gratitude above. Writing down what you are grateful for helps you to realize it.
In addition to expressing gratitude, journaling can help you realize your short and long term goals, as well as an outlet to express your thoughts and feelings.
Journaling for just 10-20 minutes each morning can improve your productivity for the day.
Communication
Communication is key in any business or situation in life. It ensures productivity and helps to maintain relationships, both business and personal.
Successful people know how to be concise in clear in their communication. They listen, stay calm and are always positive.
They don’t scream or degrade their employees, friends or families. They are understanding, attentive and considerate in all their communications.
Networking
It is important to network for both your business and personal life. Successful people surround themselves with like minded people.
People who don’t share the same values can have an effect on your own personal well being. Hanging around that old college buddy who is constantly negative can wear on you.
Or even worse, cause you to start expressing negativity as well, which can be a hindrance to working on your goals.
Outsourcing
Successful people know when to outsource tasks. Not everyone is good at everything. And you shouldn’t be trying to do everything, or you won’t accomplish anything.
For instance, I am not good at social media. So I try to outsource it as much as I can. My time is better spent writing content and creating recipes for Went Here 8 This.
Successful people know where their time is best spent. Figure out what your core purpose is, and work on outsourcing the rest.
This also goes hand in hand with eliminating time wasting activities. Like scrolling through social media, email, random articles that pop up in your browse. These time wasting activities can greatly hinder your productivity.
Learn From Mistakes
You know those people who do the same thing over and over again and never seem to learn from their mistakes? We don’t want to be those people.
Successful people learn from their mistakes. They take note of what went wrong, which helps them learn what to do next time.
I have made many mistakes in my life. Some actually took me a while to correct, but most I learned from right away.
This goes with the concept of “always be learning.” Whether it be from mistakes or reading (see above), it is important to always be in “learning mode.”
Work Life Balance
In the US, we seem to have this idea that it’s important to always be working. Bosses expecting you to be available at all hours of the day, working overtime and weekends, and being chained to the job.
This is not good for anyone. Successful people know how to balance work and life. Boundaries need to be set. People need time to relax and unwind from the daily grind.
Learn how to beat the Monday blues!
Even as an entrepreneur. I know it feels like you need to work constantly (I’m guilty of this too from time to time), but you will actually be more productive if you don’t.
By setting daily goals, journaling and doing important work first, you should be able to take a step back from work and also enjoy time with the family, time alone, and enough sleep to keep you energized and focused.
It’s incredibly important to have this balance to prevent burnout. Because burnout is real. I’ve had it multiple times in my life and it’s hard to keep going when you suffer from burnout. It affects your mental and physical well being as well.
Confidence
Successful people exude confidence. And I’m not talking about cockiness. There is a difference.
Confident people take action, make well thought out decisions, focus on solutions and don’t compare themselves to others. This is not always easy.
How many of you have suffered from impostor syndrome? I know I have, and still do from time to time. Sometimes, you have to fake it until you make it.
But if you act confident, after a while you will start to feel confident. Because you should.
Honesty
A successful person is always honest. Honest about expectations, honest with their family and friends, and honest in their heart.
Honesty is really just about doing what is right. And when you take the right action with integrity, you will build stronger relationships and have a better ability to contribute to your business success.
If your colleagues, family or friends don’t trust you, you will run into a lot of issues. Trust is incredibly important in any relationship, business or personal.
And it’s also important to be honest with yourself. Stop blaming others and look inward at your part. When you’re honest with yourself, you will be better able to make the changes required to lead a better life.
Stop Complaining
Have you ever met that person that just complains all the time? Maybe you ARE that person. It’s hard to be around someone who is always complaining.
Successful people complain rarely, or not at all. Complaining does nothing for you. Negativity actually has a negative impact on the brain according to an article by CNBC. It can literally make you stupid.
There’s a fine line between complaining and constructive criticism, however. Constructive criticism formed correctly adds a lot of value in a group setting.
But complaining just makes people not want to be around you, shrinks your brain, and serves NO PURPOSE. Complaining is just a waste of time, and if you want to be successful, cut it out.
Practice Humility
Knowing your own strengths and weaknesses is key to humility. Humble people are less aggressive, great listeners and know when and where to give credit.
Humble people are the most successful because they breed confidence and show compassion. They are self aware and don’t let ego drive decisions and actions.
In Conclusion
If you practice all theses traits, you will be well on your way to success. These traits, paired together with hard work and dedication will allow you to become a better, more successful person and attain all the goals (though they will likely change along the way) you have in both your personal and professional life.
