Being a mom can be an exhausting job. It can be a struggle to find ways to successfully juggle house chores, wife, and mommy duties without getting stressed every single day. And honestly, at the end of a full-on day, I’ll often find myself with a headache and desperate to relax. Sound familiar?
Whenever that happens, I immediately reach for my favorite Lagunamoon essential oils. I recently discovered this brand and I’ve been loving them.
Essential oils are my go-to remedy when my day doesn’t as smoothly as I’d hoped, and I usually use Lagunamoon essential oils as a topical treatment or aromatherapy.

What is an Essential Oil?
First, for the uninitiated, let’s go over what an essential oil is.
Technically, essential oils are scented, and highly concentrated liquids made from a variety of plant extracts. Essential oils are known as a therapeutic oil and are believed to possess healing elements that are beneficial to the human body. Essential oils are generally procured through the traditional process called “steam distillation” and using a machine via “cold press.” And, typically, they come from the plant’s flower, leaf, stems, roots, barks, or seeds.
These essences are then combined with carrier oils to make ready-to-use products. But take note that these oils must undergo a natural extraction process. Otherwise, it is not organic, natural, and pure anymore and may not bear the same benefits “real” essences have. That said, be wary when it comes to choosing the brand. Make sure that it is real, and the company follows the correct procedure to create essences.
Of course, that leads to the question, are Lagunamoon essential oils real?
Are Lagunamoon Essential Oils Real?
Lagunamoon essential oils are premium grade, natural, pure essential oils. Unlike some cheaper oils on the market, Lagunamoon essential oils are GC/MS tested, contain no cheap fillers, and are FDA and SGS approved.
When Should I Use Essential Oils?
There are several uses for essential oils, including DIY natural cleaning products and therapeutically. Below, I’ll go over some of the different situations in which I use essential oils.
1. Mild to severe headache. As I mentioned earlier, my busy schedule can sometimes leave me with a bit of a headache at the end of the day. When this happens, I’ll usually diffuse Lagunamoon lavender and peppermint oil. I find this generally helps to soothe a headache, and it’s one of my favorite ways to pamper myself on a budget.
Interestingly, a recent study says that applying oil (especially lavender and peppermint) helps to soothe headaches. So, with these studies and my experience combined, I recommend essential oils as an alternative remedy for headaches.
2. Stress and mild anxiety. For most of us, some amount of stress is part of life. So, to fend of stress (or at least minimize its effects), I like to diffuse essential oils.
Aromatherapy (which I will discuss later) is a known alternative remedy for stress, anxiety, and depression. According to a study published in NCBI, the scent of essences helped the participants who are experiencing anxiety and depression feel better and comfortable. Additionally, the study suggests that essential oils can work as a complementary treatment as well.
3. Sleep difficulty. Are you having difficulty sleeping every night? I know how annoying it can be, especially if you’ve had a full-on day and want nothing more than to drift off and regenerate. When that happens, the first thing I do is I take a few drops of lavender or jasmine lagunamoon essential oil and put it into the diffuser. This has an immediate calming effect and usually helps me drift off to sleep fairly quickly.

How to Use Lagunamoon Essential Oils in Three Different Ways
Essential oils are commonly utilized in three different ways: topical, aromatic, and ingestion, and Lagunamoon essential oils are no different.
Essential oils as a topical remedy are one of the the most popular way to use essential oils. In my experience, after dabbing diluted essential oils on certain parts of my body the healing benefits can often start to take effect after about 15-20 minutes (quite fast!). According to my research, it is due to the extract’s molecular structure, which helps our skin to absorb it quickly.
Wondering where to apply essential oils? Here are a few ways:
• Apply it on your head, temple, neck or behind your ears
• Use it while massaging your body
• If you have sensitive skin or the scent is too strong, add some drop of carrier oil into the essence
• Message essential oils on the tops and soles of your feet
Carrier Oils and How to Properly Dilute It Essences
Essential oils applied topically works best when appropriately diluted using a carrier oil. Carrier oil—such as jojoba and rosehip—is simply another type of compound that makes the essence safer to use as a topical treatment. Carrier oils often contain vitamins and antioxidants, too.
The process can be slightly time-consuming and sometimes I just want to be able to use essential oils topically straight out of the bottle (yes, I’m lazy sometimes.) If you’d prefer to DIY, here’s a general rule for diluting essences:
• For adults, add and mix 1 to 2 drops of essence into one teaspoon of the carrier of oil
• For children over two years old, add and mix 1 to 2 drops of essential oil into one tablespoon of carrier oil
Have you noticed how our sense of smell affects us emotionally, physically, and mentally? As I mentioned earlier, one of the most common ways I use essential oils is when I have difficulty falling asleep.
According to studies, the calming scent of extracts helps to soothe a person’s insomnia.
Lagunamoon’s lavender oil, for instance, is a favorite of mine. A few drops of it helps my mind and body feel calmer and helps to reduce anxiety. And once I feel mentally and physically relaxed, that means I’m ready to sleep.
Moreover, the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy said that such oils have the ability to balance our emotional, mental, physical, physical, and spiritual health as well.
An essential oil diffuser is the best way to use essential oils aromatically. If you don’t have a diffuser yet, here are a few ways you can use essential oils aromatically without one:
- Place 1 to 4 drops of essential oil on a cotton ball and place it wherever you want to disperse the scent
- Add a couple of drops to a bowl of hot, steamy water
- Take a few drops of it and rub it onto your palms. Then cup your hands around your nose and mouth and inhale it
- Put a couple of drops on a tissue and place it inside your pillowcase
Essential oil ingestion is a controversial topic. Some people advocate the ingestion of essential oils, with the representatives of certain companies sharing various drinks and recipes that include the use of essential oils.
Personally, I don’t ingest essential oils, nor do I recommend it. Essential oils are highly concentrated and have the potential to be damaging to the digestive system and liver.
If essential oil ingestion is something you want to explore, then I recommend consulting with a health care professional and qualified aromatherapist.
Are Essential Oils Safe?
As a mom, I’m very safety-conscious so of course, I questioned the safety of essential oils and whether they were safe to use around my family. Beyond the issue of ingestion (which I don’t recommend) here are some things to remember about essential oils:
- Essential oils are highly concentrated compounds and are very potent.
- Due to the potency of essential oils, it is best to start slow. Use a few drops 1-2 aromatically, and take careful note of the effects. For example, if you find that a certain oil exacerbates a headache as opposed to easing it, then discontinue use.
- Do not use it on sensitive parts of the body such as eyes, nose, and ears. If you have sensitive skin, it is wise to consult a healthcare professional first.
- Always read the label and direction before use.
