Interested to see how much money I made online in January 2017? In my January 2017 online income report I share exactly how much I made from my blog.
Hi everyone! Can you believe we’re already in February? Sometimes it feels like the days are just flying by. January was a crazy month for us – we finally made the big move from Tennessee to North Carolina.
It was a crazy ride – we did the whole thing ourselves (we didn’t hire a moving company) and let me tell you – it was an adventure. After 10 hours of driving, 2 adults, an 8-month-old baby, a dog, two cars, and massive UHaul full of all of our worldly possessions (of which we had WAY.TOO.MUCH.) finally arrived.
The roads were iced over when we got here, so it was awesome when I started having a severe allergic reaction to the antibiotics I was on for an ear infection, and ended up in the emergency room. A couple of IV’s and a few hours later, I was released – still looking pretty scary, but feeling much better.
So as you can see, January was kiiiinda crazy, life-wise.
However, income-wise, January was awesome. For starters, we finally closed on our house (after some delays on the buyers end.) The market in our old city is absolutely saturated with houses, so it was a huge blessing that ours sold. Our initial goal was to break even, but we actually ended up making a nice little profit, so that was great.
As for online income, my January 2017 online income report is really exciting – it’s by far my best month yet. In my last online income report, I set a huge stretch goal of making $10k/month by the end of this year. It’s a big goal, I know, but I’m confident I can achieve it. And January’s online income report has made me all the more confident.
If you want to be publishing your own online income reports one day, then I highly recommend starting a blog. I decided to start this blog back in July of 2016 (not that long ago!) and it’s far and away one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Not only has it allowed me to make money from home (and not have to put my son in childcare) it’s allowed me the opportunity to meet some amazing people and gain tons of valuable, marketable skills.
The number one tip I have (especially if you ever plan on turning your blog into a business, aka – making money!) is to buy your own domain name and hosting. I use Siteground, and I truly love them. Right now, they have a super special going on where you can get hosting for just $3.95 a month, and a free domain name. I’m not sure when that offer is going to end, so I’d jump on it if I were you (the usual price is $9.95 a month, so you’re saving 60%!) Here’s the link to get the special pricing.

Why Do I Share My Online Income Report?
People often ask why I share my online income reports?
I think Pat Flynn was one of the first people to start sharing his online income reports. If you haven’t heard of him, he’s incredibly inspiring. After Pat started sharing his online income each month, a lot of bloggers started doing it. And I read every single one I could find. I found it so inspiring, and I thought to myself, “Why not me?”
My goal in sharing my online income reports is to inspire you, and make you think “Why not me?” Because really, there is no reason why you can’t make money online, if you put your everything into it. I don’t have a journalism degree. I’m not a reality TV star who cashed in on my sudden fame (maybe I will be one day, haha!)
I’m just a normal person – a mom, wife, gym junkie, and personal finance nut, who decided that I wanted to share my knowledge and thoughts with the world. I know it sounds cliche, but if I can do it, so can you. Feel free to email me if you have any more questions about this crazy fun blogging world!
January 2017 Online Income Report
This is solely money made from my blog. This doesn’t include any other income sources, including freelancing, sales, investments, etc.
Total Online Income January 2017:
$3297.77
Blog Income Broken Down
Affiliates
$3237.26
As you can see, affiliate marketing makes up the bulk of my online income.
Ads
$60.51
Ad network income is up from December, but it’s still not much to write home about. As I wrote in my December online income report, because my pageviews increased a lot, I was accepted into one of the larger ad networks.
It takes a few weeks for them to get everything squared away and ready to go, so I’m still using Sovrn for ads. If you don’t have the pageviews to get accepted into the larger ad networks but you’d still like to place some ads on your blog, I recommend joining Sovrn. While $60.51 isn’t much, it’s more than nothing.
Total Blog Expenses January 2017
$20 – I hired a VA for a couple of small things.
Goals for February 2017
1) Increase my pageviews
I’ve seen an increase in pageviews every month since I started blogging. I know that pageviews can plateau out, and even drop based on the seasons. I also know that while there is a correlation between pageviews and income, more pageviews doesn’t always mean higher income. However, I’m nowhere near where I want to be with pageviews, so I’d like to see another increase.
2) Get prepared for Elite Blog Academy
Elite Blog Academy starts at the end of the month, and I am PUMPED. I have huge plans and goals for The Million Dollar Mama, and I’m confident that Elite Blog Academy will help me get closer to achieving them.
Elite Blog Academy isn’t cheap, and it’s something that I discussed with my husband quite a lot before deciding to pull the trigger and enroll. When I paid for the course, I hadn’t even made enough money from my blog to cover the cost, so it was definitely a leap of faith. Enrollment is currently closed, but if you want to get on the waitlist, you’ll get a free copy of The Blog Structure Blueprint and you’ll get a heads up when enrollment is re-opening.
3) Look into offering consulting services
This is something I’ve done in the past (more on the social media side of things) but I’m currently looking into offering digital marketing/blog monetization consultations. I’m still figuring out exactly what it’ll look like, but if you’re interested in something like that, please shoot me an email.
4) Prepare for my blog redesign
Currently, The Million Dollar Mama is using the Glam theme which I bought on Studiopress. I know some CSS (which I learned on Udemy and TeamTreehouse) so I was able to change things up a bit.
However, I’ve decided to invest in a web designer for a full makeover! I’m really excited about this and I can’t wait to see how everything looks. I have some concrete ideas in terms of layout and design, but there are some areas I’m still working on. I want to have everything squared away by the end of February, as the redesign is scheduled for March.
How did your January look? Any big news/achievements/goals? I’d love to hear them!
