Think you might be pregnant and looking for some early signs of pregnancy? If you think you’ve got a bun in the oven, it can be agonizing having to wait until you’re far enough for it to show up on a pregnancy test.

When my husband and I decided that we wanted to try for a baby, I bought a huge pack of pregnancy test strips for super cheap. Turns out that I didn’t need them because I knew I was pregnant almost immediately (see number 1 below!)

There are the obvious signs of pregnancy like missing your period and feeling nauseas, but believe it or not, there are actually quite a few surprising early signs of pregnancy that you might not have heard of.

Of course, none of these possible pregnancy signs mean that you’re definitely pregnant, but they might be able to give you a bit of a hint and they’re interesting to watch out for.

7 Early Signs of Pregnancy That Might Surprise You - Wondering if you might be pregnant? Check out these early signs of pregnancy that you might not have heard of before!

7 Early Signs of Pregnancy That Might Surprise You

1. Implantation Cramping

Believe it or not, some women actually feel the exact moment that the blastocyst (the name for the embryo 5-6 days after fertilization) shoots into the uterine wall and buries itself. This happened to me and the best way I can describe it is like a short, sharp, intense cramp that takes you by surprise but is over as soon as it started. It’s not a continuous cramping feeling like you might get before or during your period, it’s just one short, painful burst.

2. Needing to Pee Constantly

If you’re finding yourself constantly needing to use the restroom, it might be an early sign of pregnancy. Frequent urination is commonly associated with the third trimester of pregnancy, due to your uterus expanding and placing pressure on your bladder. However, needing to pee all the time is also very common in the first trimester, due to the production of the pregnancy hormone, hCG and a spike in progesterone, both of which increase the urge to urinate.

3. Changes in Your Breasts

We all know that our breasts start producing milk right after baby is born, causing you to go up a cup size or two. But what you might not know is that some women experience changes in their breasts as early as the first few weeks of pregnancy. Things like sore, tender breasts, darker areolas, and the bumps on your areolas getting larger can all be early signs of pregnancy.

4. Light Bleeding

When the blastocyst implants itself into the uterine wall, some women experience light bleeding. Often, this is mistaken for a light period and those who experience this think it means they’re not pregnant. However, it might mean just the opposite!

5. Feeling Hot

If you’ve been feeling hot all the time and can’t seem to sleep without the fan on, this could be an early pregnancy sign. During pregnancy, the amount of blood in your body increases by 40-45%. This increase in blood creates extra body heat, and can increase your body temperature.

6. Fatigue

If you’ve suddenly gone from a busy schedule that you power through to feeling like you need a nap by midday, this could be another early pregnancy symptom. Fatigue is a very common sign of pregnancy, and happens to most women at some point. This is due to many factors, including an increase in hormones and the huge changes that your body is going through.

7. Mood Swings

Crying at the drop of a hat? Suddenly finding little things that never bothered you incredibly annoying? Feeling on top of the world one minute then anxious or depressed the next? Mood swings, increased irritability and anxiety can all be early pregnancy signs.

These are all interesting possible early signs of pregnancy, but of course, the best way to confirm you’re pregnant is to take a pregnancy test.
