These Indian face mask recipes use all natural ingredients including Multani Mitti, which will leave your skin feeling cleansed and refreshed! Let´s jump in and try these amazing 3 DIY Face Masks Recipes Using Multani Mitti.
Up until about a year ago, whenever I needed a skin detox, I would pop to the store and buy a face mask. They were always so hit and miss, though.
Sometimes my face would react so badly to the chemicals that I’d end up looking like I had the measles – not the look I’m usually going for *face palm*.
A good friend of mine and his wife are Indian and he shared with me a few of his wife’s favorite, traditional beauty products, including her favorite traditional Indian DIY face mask recipe, of which the main ingredient is Multani Mitti.
Never heard of Multani Mitti before? Don’t worry, neither had I. (And you don’t have to travel to India to find it – the absolute cheapest I’ve found it is right here).
Multani Mitti
Multani Mitti is also known as “Fullers Earth” and it’s basically a type of clay that’s full of minerals like calcium, iron, quartz, and magnesium. It’s inexpensive, natural, oil absorbing, and it has cleansing and antiseptic properties, so it’s awesome to help with skin blemishes.
I try to use Multani Mitti every 1-2 weeks on my face (I’ve even convinced my husband to use it, too) and it honestly makes my face feel so clean and refreshed.
How do you use Multani Mitti?
Multani Mitti comes in powder form, and it’s really easy to use. There are a few different recipes for traditional Indian DIY face masks using Multani Mitti, depending on your skin type.
1) Multani Mitti + Yogurt
This recipe is great for removing dead skin, and the lactic acid and zinc in the yogurt combined with the minerals found in the Multani Mitti helps to give your skin a natural glow. If you have dry skin and want to try a Multani Mitti face mask, then I recommend this recipe.
2 tbsp Multani Mitti
2 tbsp Greek Yoghurt
1 tsp Lemon Juice
Mix all ingredients together, apply to face. Let dry, then rinse off with warm water.
2) Multani Mitti + Mint
The anti-inflammatory properties of mint help to reduce redness, itchiness, and dryness.
2 tbsp Multani Mitti
4 tsp fresh mint, crushed into a paste
3 tbsp Water
Mix all ingredients together. If the mixture is too runny, add some more Multani Mitti. If it’s too thick, add some more water. Apply to face, let dry, then rinse off with warm water.
3) Multani Mitti + Orange Juice + Turmeric
This recipe is great if you suffer from skin breakouts or acne, due to astringent and antimicrobial properties in the orange juice and turmeric.
2 tbsp Multani Mitti
3 tbsp Orange Juice
1 tsp turmeric
Mix the Multani Mitti and turmeric together first, then add the orange juice. Apply to face, let dry, then rinse off with warm water.
Multani Mitti is a great, natural way to keep your skin feeling clean and refreshed. It’s inexpensive, and a little goes a long way.
Use these face masks when doing your DIY spa day!
